DRIVE hosts "No Fear, All Cheer!" fundraiser for Lola Pinard!

DRIVE held the “No Fear, All Cheer!” fundraiser on May 31, 2019, at Danny J’s Brick Tavern in Downtown Utica to help support a special little girl named Lola. The event was attended by over 220 people and helped raise funds for Lola’s family cover mounting medical and family expenses while she was undergoing treatment.

Lola’s Story

Lola Pinard was a sweet 6-year-old girl from Westland, Michigan, who was diagnosed with kidney disease at age 2. From the time She was 2 through age 6, the family had been traveling to the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital every 3 months for doctor visits. In October 2018, Lola started peritoneal dialysis, and began going once a month for treatment. It was known that she had some heart complications due to end stage renal disease.

In April of 2019, it was discovered that Lola was in heart failure and was admitted to the CICU. While there, Lola received hemodialysis every day along with her IV medications. The hope was that this treatment helped her to regain heart function and avoid a heart transplant on top of her already necessary kidney transplant.

At the end of May, the family was fortunate to receive a generous donation of a private aircraft and was able to transfer Lola to the University of Michigan hospital, allowing her to be closer to family and also continue her treatment.

Sadly, on December 27, 2021 Princess Lola lost her battle for health and went to be with her sister Marley in heaven.

We love Lola and hope that Lola is resting peacefully.
